Red and brown

The land under our feet is getting dryer; (we are standing on hollow caves). We’ll soon be taken by the earth and be made into grass.
Life underneath takes place in the dark; we’ll have to wear special glasses to protect our eyes until we have no eyes. We’ll breathe dust and eat dirt; we’ll be covered by smeared clothes until we take them off. Our skin will dissolve with the water; our flesh will become part of the ground. All our internal organs will melt. Blood and earth, red and brown, a mix of life and death, all washed up by the rain. And we’ll be back in the shape of silver poplars all over the world.
